Corona Virus Statement
Following the joint statement released by British Dressage and British Show jumping around the future of competitions yesterday afternoon and alongside the government briefing around the Corona virus escalation over the last few days, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily close our doors, effective immediately until further notice.
We considered several changes such as limiting and monitoring numbers on site, changing class formats, and other innovative ways to remain physically open, but the reality is that we would simply be delaying the inevitable. The sooner we move to a manageable contingency plan, the better for us all.
This is temporary of course, and we will be working very hard in the meantime to implement adjustments accordingly to minimise any risk and to be able to continue to run what we can. Due to the nature of the business and the lack of necessity for close proximity between people, with the correct precautions we feel we should be able to keep some of our facilities ticking along.
This situation is evolving extremely fast, please allow us the next few days to iron out our commitments to the cancelled and postponed events that were due to be held in the near future. Bear with us, the volume of entries and stabling we currently have booked take time, but please be reassured in the fact that we are working on processing all refunds.
Amidst all the rumours that you have all undoubtedly seen over social media, we can confirm our outdoor Arena 3 and Outdoor International have been removed. As many of you in the equine industry are more than aware, there are always grey areas. We have had an altercation with a supplier; however, this would not be the reason behind any closure.
Right now, our priority is to deliver on a contingency plan, and it is all-hands-on-deck to move towards that. Currently this includes new outdoor surfaces, forthcoming arena hire opportunities, closely monitored clinics, and generally monitoring the escalating situation on a day by day basis.
There is no doubt that this is an unprecedented time for all of us and many businesses are feeling the vulnerability of the situation, but there is no reason why we can’t embrace the chaos and make the most out of a changing situation.
We will aim to keep everyone up to date with the black and white facts of the matter, but for now we can only thank you for the continuous support we keep receiving 💜
Be safe all.
Team Addington 😊
